Latin Jazz, Funk, Son Montuno and Salsa

Workshop2Ensemble is a Latin Jazz nonet dedicated to the creation, preservation, and performance of Afro-Caribbean–influenced music through original composition, live performance and community engagement.
The ensemble brings together seasoned musicians to present a repertoire reflecting the historical evolution of music shaped by African diasporic rhythms. While rooted in Afro-Cuban Latin Jazz, the project explores a broader musical continuum, including African American funk and Afro-Caribbean forms such as son montuno and salsa.
The repertoire includes seminal works by influential composers and original compositions and arrangements, contributing to the continued evolution of Latin Jazz as a living tradition.
Latin Jazz, funk, and salsa are more than musical styles—they are cultural bridges connecting history, identity, and community. For the growing Latino population in Westchester County and the greater New York region, this music represents a vital and enduring artistic legacy.
Workshop2Ensemble is committed to ensuring that this tradition continues to thrive through live performance, new composition, and community engagement, bringing both historic repertoire and original works to contemporary audiences.
Workshop2Ensemble is currently developing a multi-phase project that includes professional recordings, live performances in New York City and Westchester County, and the production of 2 full-length albums—establishing a long-term platform for artistic creation, performance, and cultural engagement.
