Workshop2Ensemble is a project to create a nonet which will play transcribed arrangements from various composers including Bobby Paunetto as well as original compositions. The repertoire will span Latin/Brazilian/Straight Ahead Jazz, Funk, and Salsa.
I am looking for qualified, seasoned intermediate/advanced musicians including 2 trumpets, tenor sax, alto sax, trombone, bass, piano and drums. Musicians should have experience playing written parts and improvising in a big band or other similar academic or professional setting. All participants will be sent a short sample part that they must perform, record, and return to me.
The repertoire will require the group to rehearse. The rehearsal schedule will be flexible. The preferred rehearsal location will be in Westchester County, New York. Alternatively, we can rehearse in another location if feasible for the majority for the interested musicians. Qualified musicians can participate in the workshop for free. Contributions to help pay for the cost of the rehearsal studio are accepted and are totally voluntary.
The nonet will develop the required competency to be concert ready.
